Sea buckthorn is a nutrient-dense berry, often called a "superfood" due to its rich profile. It is said to be the most nutritious berry.

Exceptionally high in Vitamin C contains good amounts of Vitamins A (beta-carotene), E, K, and various B vitamins (including B1, B2, B6, and notably, some B12, which is rare in plant foods).

A unique feature is its content of all four main omega fatty acids: Omega-3, Omega-6, Omega-7, and Omega-9. Omega-7 (palmitoleic acid) is particularly abundant and valued for skin and heart health.

Rich in various antioxidants, including flavonoids, carotenoids, and polyphenols, which help protect the body from free radical damage.

Contains essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, and phosphorus.

Other Bioactive Compounds: Also provides beneficial organic acids, amino acids, and phytosterols.

Leikora is a broad, upright and vigorous shrub with overhanging fruiting branches,  Fruits medium-large, deep orange-red, ripening September/October. High oil content.

Aronia berries (Aronia Melanocarpa)grow on a deciduous shrub, often referred to as a "chokeberry". These hardy plants are native to eastern North America and are valued for both their ornamental qualities and their nutritious fruit.

Aronia shrubs typically grow to a height of 1.5 to 2.5 metres (5 to 8 feet) and can spread 2.5 to 4 metres (8 to 13 feet) wide, forming a dense, multi-stemmed, upright, and spreading bush. They are known for their ability to spread by root suckers, forming colonies over time.(Suckering Can be kept under control by mowing)

The leaves are simple, glossy, dark green, and finely-toothed throughout the summer. In autumn, they transform into a spectacular display of fiery red, orange, and purple.

In late spring (typically May in Ireland), the shrubs produce clusters of small, five-petaled white or pale pink flowers. These blooms are often hawthorn-like in appearance and are generally resistant to late spring frosts.

Following the flowers, clusters of small, round berries develop, ripening to a deep purplish-black in late summer to early autumn (August to October). These berries are known for their astringent taste when raw but excellent for processing.

The berries are used for there nutrition and medicinal properties.

The 'Smoky' Saskatoon berry (Amelanchier alnifolia 'Smoky') is a highly popular and widely cultivated variety, known for its reliable and abundant harvests.

'Smoky' produces small to medium-sized, sweet, blue-black berries with a mild, slightly almond-like flavor and lower acidity compared to some other varieties. They are excellent for fresh eating, baking, jams, pies, and other culinary uses. The berries typically ripen in early to mid-summer.

This is a hardy, deciduous shrub that can reach heights of 10 feet. It has an upright, spreading growth habit and is known to sucker freely, forming multi-stemmed bushes.

Beyond its delicious fruit, 'Smoky' offers ornamental appeal. It features beautiful clusters of white, star-shaped flowers in early spring before the leaves emerge, and its dark green foliage turns to vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and crimson in the fall.

Smoky is very cold-hardy and adaptable to a range of well-drained soils, preferring full sun to partial shade for optimal fruit production.

It's relatively low-maintenance, requiring occasional pruning in late winter to remove dead or weak branches and encourage new growth. It is self-pollinating, but having multiple plants can increase fruit yield.
