Beth Pear
Beth pear is an early-ripening, reliable dessert pear variety that produces sweet, juicy, melting white flesh with a smooth skin. Developed in the UK in the 1930s, this compact, self-sterile tree is well-suited for home gardens and has been recognized with the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Characteristics
Fruit: Small to medium-sized, conical, with smooth yellow-green skin, sometimes tinged with pink. The white flesh is sweet, melting, and juicy.
Flavor: Rich and sweet, reminiscent of fine French pears.
Tree: Compact, upright, spur-bearer that fruits reliably from a young age.
Harvest: Late August to early September; ripen indoors until soft.
Pollination: Not self-fertile; requires another pear variety (Pollination Group 3, or ideally Group 2) nearby for a good crop.
