Harrow Sweet Pear. NEW TO IRELAND
The Harrow Sweet (Pyrus communis 'Harrow Sweet') is a highly regarded, cold-hardy European pear variety known for its exceptional sweetness, juicy texture, and high resistance to fire blight. It is a late-season, productive, medium-sized yellow fruit with a red blush, perfect for eating fresh, canning, or storage.
Harvest & Ripening: It is a late-season pear that ripens 3-4 weeks after Williams typically around mid-September to early October. It should be picked when the green skin turns to a light yellow-green, often with a reddish blush.
Disease Resistance: Highly resistant to fire blight, making it a reliable choice for areas with high disease pressure.
Tree Size: Considered a reliable producer with heavy, consistent crops. Available as dwarfs (8-12 ft) or semi-standards (up to 15-20 ft).
Pollination: It is not self-fertile and requires another pear tree.
