Raised by the gardener Jervaise Coe at Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, about 1780–1800, reputedly from a greengage seed pollinated by White Magnum Bonum. A late, richly flavoured dessert plum regarded as one of the finest — but shy and needing a warm wall.
