The Orange Pear is an old, pre-war variety. It's generally forgotten, now almost unknown to anyone.

The skin is beautifully yellow, sometimes with a delicate red blush. The flavor is delicious – juicy and nutmeg-like. Harvest maturity is in early September.

• It has a vigorous growth habit and a spreading crown from which branches hang beautifully. Its most beautiful feature, however, is its exceptionally dark bark, which is covered with white freckles.
