Thornless Gooseberry Captivator NEW small plant
This dessert variety, of Canadian origin (ribes uva-crispa 'Captivator'), is prized for its sweet, red fruit with a delicate skin. The shrub is almost thornless, making harvesting much easier.
Captivator' gooseberries are medium to large, spherical or slightly oval. They ripen red, and their skin is thin and delicate. The flesh has a sweet flavor with a slight hint of acidity, making them excellent for eating raw, but also for preserves, juices, and baked goods.
The 'Captivator' gooseberry is a deciduous shrub with a spreading, medium-growing habit, typically reaching 1–1.5 m in height. In spring, it produces small, greenish-white flowers, which develop into delicious fruit in summer. This variety is distinguished by its almost complete lack of thorns, making care and harvesting exceptionally easy and safe.
Captivator' is self-pollinating, so it produces abundant fruit even without other varieties present.
